Frequently Asked Questions

Which payment options are available?

You can pay using Payfast to process your card payment or your can choose Direct Bank Transer as your payment method.

Payfast is a trusted online payment processing service like Paypal, but available in South African Rand (ZAR) currency.

If you choose to make your payment via bank transer, I will send you an invoice for the artwork you bought. Please make your EFT deposit into the bank account on this invoice and use the Invoice number as your reference so I can connect your payment to your purchase.
Allow for up to 2 days for the invoice to be processes. Your artwork will be shipped as soon as the payment cleared through my bank account.

What are the shipping costs?

I add R100 to the cost of your unframed artwork if the artwork is to be shipped within South Africa. Each artwork you buy, will be packaged and shipped separately, so I add R100 per unframed artwork for packaging and shipping costs for shipping within South Africa.
Packaging and international shipping for an unframed artwork is R300 per artwork.

I ship to the following countries:
Australia

Pastel is pure pigment mixed with a binder and
applied to acid free, sanded paper.

This, if bought framed, is matted
(archival) and framed under glass. If you bought an unframed pastel artwork it should be framed with archival matting and under glass as soon as possible.

The glass should be dusted with a soft cloth or
feather duster to clean.
Fingerprints may be removed by applying
glass cleaner to a soft cloth and wiping the surface
of the glass clean. Please do not spray cleaner
directly on the glass. The glass cleaner could run
down the glass and seep between the glass and
frame, damaging the paper and art work.

It is advisable to keep your artwork away from
direct sunlight and from moisture, as in the
bathroom or near the kitchen sink or stove.

Do you sell framed artwork?

I do not frame your artwork before shipping, because:

* the shipping costs I cover, is only for unframed artwork and
*the weight of the frame will add a lot to your shipping cost

Also note that if the artwork is framed under glass and the glass breaks somehow, this will damage your artwork. I do package all artworks very carefully, but glass can break too easily if the package is dropped by the shipping company, so I feel it is an unnecessary risk.

Why did I link to overseas suppliers here when my art classes are held in South Africa?

I have found Amazon to be a reliable online supplier and many South Africans buy theirs supplies there, but Dick Blick’s online store has excellent product description. When I want to learn more about a product, I find the product on Dick Blick. So, even if you would prefer not to buy online from them, reading the product descriptions which I suggested to you, would certainly help you be more sure of what to look for in stores here in South Africa.

Of course, I have to mention that no South African online art store that I could find, offers an affiliate program. If you wanted to support me, buying from Amazon or Dick Blick after following any of their links on my site, would earn me a small commission.

Art stores in South Africa

You can buy art materials at stores like CNA, PNA and even some at Builders Express and Builders Warehouse.
However, if you are looking for a wide variety of Quality Artists Materials, Herbert and Evans is the best.

I buy most of my supplies there, but also sometimes online (Amazon or Dick Blick) when there are specials available to make it worthwhile.

Where can I buy Prints of your artworks?

I sell prints of only some of my work through Fine Art America. If I make any of my works available as prints, I will indicate that on the original where it is available for sale. I do not make any works which are sold, available in print form after it is sold.

Is there any other way to support you and your work?

“I love your work, but I don’t need to buy anything right now. How can I help support you in some way without buying anything?”

Thank you so much for your kind remarks! Soon I will make screensavers of some of my best works available for sale at a very affordable price. Alternatively, you can buy a gift card for yourself or for a friend.
